How the birthday countdown works
This next birthday calculator finds the next calendar occurrence of the birthday month and day you choose, then subtracts the current browser time from that target. The countdown updates every second and shows the time left in days, hours, minutes, and seconds. Add a birth year when you also want current age and age-on-next-birthday results.
By default, the target time is local midnight at the start of the birthday. If you enter a birthday time, the countdown uses that exact local time instead. For February 29 birthdays, leap years use February 29 and non-leap years follow your selected February 28 or March 1 rule.
Methodology: calculations run locally, use your browser's local time zone, follow Gregorian calendar month lengths and leap-year rules, and are intended for planning and entertainment rather than legal age decisions.

Worked examples
Birthday later this year
Assume today: April 10, 2026. Input: September 20, birth year 1990.
The next birthday is September 20, 2026, and the person turns 36 because 2026 - 1990 = 36.
Birthday already passed
Assume today: April 10, 2026. Input: February 3, birth year 1985.
February 3, 2026 has already passed, so the next birthday becomes February 3, 2027, when the person turns 42.
February 29 birthday
Assume today: January 15, 2026. Input: February 29 with March 1 selected.
Because 2026 is not a leap year, the next birthday date is March 1, 2026. In 2028, the calculator uses February 29.

How many days until my birthday?

What age will I turn on my next birthday?
If you enter a birth year, the age turning is the next birthday year minus the birth year. Without a birth year, the countdown still works but age fields stay blank.
What if today is my birthday?
If the birthday date is today and no exact time is entered, the calculator shows 0 days and a birthday message. If an exact time is entered, it counts to that time when it is still ahead; after it passes, the next exact occurrence is next year.
What if I was born on February 29?
Choose February 28 or March 1 for non-leap years. In leap years, February 29 is used automatically.
Does the countdown use my local time zone?
Yes. The calculator runs in your browser and uses the local time zone set on your device.
Can I count down to someone else's birthday?
