How planetary age is calculated

1. Count elapsed days

The calculator converts both calendar dates to UTC day numbers and subtracts them, avoiding time-zone and daylight-saving shifts.

2. Divide by a planet year

planet age = elapsed Earth days ÷ orbital period in Earth days

3. Find the next orbit

The next whole planetary age is multiplied by that orbital period to estimate the next planetary birthday date.

Example: someone who has lived 10,958 Earth days is about 10,958 ÷ 687 = 15.95 Mars years old, but about 10,958 ÷ 88 = 124.52 Mercury years old.

Orbital periods used

NASA commonly rounds planet years to whole Earth days for public fact pages. This calculator uses those published comparison values, with 365.256 days for Earth's mean sidereal year.

What the estimate leaves out

The result does not model birth time, leap seconds, relativistic effects, orbital position, or a high-precision ephemeris. Next-birthday dates are mean-period estimates.

How is my age on another planet calculated?

Your elapsed age in Earth days is divided by the planet's mean orbital period in Earth days. Mercury years accumulate quickly because Mercury completes an orbit in about 88 Earth days.

How old would I be on Mars?

Divide your elapsed age in Earth days by about 687. A 30-Earth-year-old is roughly 15.9 Mars years old.

Why am I younger on Jupiter?

Jupiter takes about 4,333 Earth days—nearly 12 Earth years—to orbit the Sun. Only a few Jupiter years pass during a typical human lifetime.

Is Pluto a planet?

Pluto is officially a dwarf planet. It is included here as a popular extra and labelled accordingly.

Are planetary birthdays exact?

No. They are useful estimates based on mean, rounded orbital periods. The calculator does not use your birth time or a precise astronomical ephemeris.
