Automatically Extracted Images
These are raster images (photos, logos) automatically found in the PDF. (Does not include vector diagrams.)
How to Use:
Upload PDF: Drag and drop your PDF file or click to upload.
Page Selection: A vertical list of page thumbnails will appear on the left. Click any thumbnail to view that page in the central cropping area.
Interactive Cropping:
In the central area, click and drag your mouse to draw a selection box around the figure, table, or diagram you wish to extract. Adjust the box as needed.
Click "Crop & Download Selected" to save the selected region as a high-quality PNG image to your device. Your cropped images will appear in the "Your Cropped Elements" gallery on the right.
Automatic Embedded Image Extraction:
The tool will automatically detect and extract embedded raster images (like photos, logos) directly from the PDF structure. These will appear in the "Automatically Extracted Embedded Images" gallery on the right.
Note: This feature extracts raster images only and does not include vector graphics (diagrams made of lines/shapes) or text.
Download All: Use the "Download All as ZIP" buttons for both manually cropped and auto-extracted images.
Why Use This Tool? (Client-Side & Privacy-Focused):
This comprehensive tool offers dual functionality for extracting visuals from your PDFs. The interactive cropper gives you precise control over complex figures and tables, while the automatic extractor quickly grabs all embedded photos and logos. All processing happens directly in your web browser, meaning your sensitive documents never leave your computer, ensuring maximum privacy and security.
It's ideal for researchers, students, and professionals who need clean, high-resolution visual assets from PDFs, avoiding screenshots and third-party uploads.
Important Considerations:
Quality: Extracted images (both cropped and auto-extracted) will be high-resolution based on the PDF's content and the render/embedded quality.
Output Format: Images are saved as PNG files, excellent for diagrams and text-based figures due to lossless compression.
No OCR: This tool extracts images, not selectable text. Text within the cropped area will become part of the image. For text extraction, please use our PDF Text Extractor.
Password-Protected PDFs: Encrypted or password-protected PDFs cannot be processed unless you remove the password protection beforehand.
Performance: Processing very large PDFs or pages at very high resolution may take a moment, depending on your device's capabilities.
Vector vs. Raster: The automatic extraction only finds embedded raster images. Many scientific diagrams are vector graphics and will not be detected by this automatic feature; for these, use the interactive cropping feature.
